*Sigh* On the one hand, having a malleable background and history, Transformers writers can make up stuff and not depend (or be forced to follow) what others have already established. On the second hand, it makes it harder to distinguish between 'fandom' and 'canon' - and even hard core fanatics who wish to stay true to the official published versions can find disagreements and crevices or canyons.
I think that's what makes Transformers so fun - everyone gets to have their own personal opinion, and so what if no one agrees with you? The science doesn't even have to be real - it just has to sell and entertain!
