Optimus had always thought (either secretly or openly) that Ultra Magnus was Dion reformatted. Then he finds out that Dion has been found. What would he think when he realizes that all this time he's been treating a stranger as if he were his old best friend?

Ultra Magnus would be devestated to learn why, exactly, Optimus became his friend. I can see Optimus ignoring Ultra Magnus in favor of Dion, which causes Magnus to fall into depression. I can also see Dion kicking Optimus' aft when he learns that Optimus basically abandoned his current best friend. "You don't treat friends like that. Who cares if he's not me?"

GAHHH. WHERE IS THIS FROM. ARGH. I KNOW THIS. I think it was something like, "A man may treat his equals and superiors with respect, but to truly judge his character you must look to how he treats his inferiors." To Kill A Mockingbird, maybe?

Not To Kill A Mockingbird because I've never read it. I can't remember where though. Maybe TV because I've started watching it again. Or an Agatha Christie book.

Makes me think of Starscream.

I was actually thinking Blaster. It might explain why he always turns the volume way up when he plays music. He's trying to drown out the screams.

Of course, maybe he's telepathic like Soundwave, but doesn't know. Maybe he really is hearing someones mental screams.

*thinks* Which TFs weren't victims of size-changing in the original cartoon?

Actually, I was just thinking of those whose altmodes are much smaller than their mech forms. Like Perceptor, of course. And Blaster. Soundwave. Megatron. The others might have gotten it later... like Perceptor developed a non-painful and non-lifethreatening version and put it on the market in order to earn money to pay for medical treatments all the experiment victims needed in order to minimize the pain and damage to themselves. Of course, he made it so the ones who bought this harmless version couldn't go as small as the victims could, because the small size they were forced into put severe pressure on their sparks, which is actually what is slowly and painfully killing them.

So did young!Perceptor think that killing was thus acceptable behavior? Or maybe he imprinted on Mirage?

Both maybe? He imprinted on Mirage and he saw Mirage kill someone. In his mind, if Mirage did it then it must have been acceptable behavior. And of course, there's no telling what his creators had been teaching him.

Blaster and Soundwave. Early in their Autobot/Decepticon careers, they let that slip and were promptly burdened with the sparklings of every creator in the 'Bot and 'Con armies. Some of the creators were killed; others were so badly injured that they forgot they even had sparklings; and some others didn't care about the sparklings or didn't know that they had contributed to the creation. But Soundwave and Blaster eventually got so attached to the sparklings that it didn't matter... although some of them still refused to address their adopted creators as 'Dad' or similar.

*LOVES* *LOVES* *LOVES* You should add that to your next list. *LOVES* *LOVES* *LOVES*

Idea! What if Starscream and Skyfire were allowed to travel to Earth, thinking that it was a scientific expedition, when really it was an excuse to rid Cybertron of their scientific genius before one faction or the other could get them under their control? Maybe hidden agents followed the two and chased them into the storm? Or maybe the agents' orders were to damage their alt-forms and equipment so they could survive on Earth but never make it back to Cybertron.
Perceptor found out about this plot and, knowing he would be next if he didn't do something, volunteered to join the squad that would follow them. He couldn't slip away to warn Starscream and Skyfire, but he tried to sabotage his team's efforts...

*LOVES SO VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH* ANOTHER YOU NEED TO ADD TO YOUR NEXT LIST!!!!

I wonder what consequences Perceptor would suffer if what he did was ever discovered.
