Yeah, it's not that uncommon for canon to use interface to mean, simply, "interface." Usually not transformer-to-transformer, though, I usually see it transformer-to-non-sentient-machine.

...I'm probably most amused by Starscream's little device in the beginning of TFA that he uses to "overload" Megatron.

I remember that too. I just got a weird look, knowing it wasn't meant like that, but also knowing it can be soooo taken that way. Heck, I figure that 'interfacing' to them might mean either sex or file-transfer, depending on the context of the situation/conversation. But to avoid confusion in my fics, I use file-transferring as 'uplinking'.

But yeah, that would make very interesting crack.

Sidenote: A small chuckle escaped from my inner-laughter when I was watching ST: Voyager, and an alien who was mentally connected to a super-computer mentioned interfacing with Seven of Nine. It was not meant sexual, but... well lets just say the only reason I wasn't rolling on the floor was because my mom was in the room. (overly religious type)
