Flying Chamaeleons

Why is Starscream so much more colorful than his fellow Seekers?
And why was he painted black to his crowning ceremony?

a)Did he mourn for his wing mates? (After booting them out of Astrotrain, that slagger)
b)Dark colors in a Seeker are a sign that said Seeker is searching for a possible trine-mate. So this whole time, while Screamer was perfectly content where he was, Warp and TC basically sent "Come and join us so that we can rid of that intruder flying with us". Or they mourned their real trine-mate, who died before Screamer joint in?
c)Seekers are like chamaeleons. If happy they settle for some ground color with few and modest markings, if agitated or unsatisfied with their situation, they get bright and show agressive colors, so when Screamer get crowned, he was all happy and became black and white?
d)Why has Screamer a black face? An omen for something? A sign only a Seeker knows how to interpret?
e)Megs finds out that Seekers are Chamaeleons and that they have more moods than "content" and "not-content" and that these moods show through slight or drastic color changes. Now he's trying to use that to his advantage to be finally able to predict and direct Screamer's moves and thoughts. (Could explain why in G1 so many coloring errors were made. Especially when showing the Seekers XD)
f)Something happens that really shocks/affects the Seekers in some way and suddenly they all share the same colors. Much confusions ensues.

Lol at f.
Seriously, I just had this mental image of a whole bunch of them looking up at once and turning Starscream-coloured.... Like the Chameleons in "The Wild"
