I've brought bunnies, prepare to run
1. G1/TFA: the Autobots twins and Starscream share a secret. They've been raised by Lockdown, the infamous bounty hunter. He found them as Sparklings, hungry, scared and all alone, on a hunt gone terribly wrong, the wanted mech snapping under the strain of the hunt and killing everybody in sight. Now, vorns later, they are (mostly) mature and have purposely placed themselves in Prime's and Megatron's elite teams. Here, right in the action and at the source of any news and new bounties, they make sure that every new job goes straight to Lockdown, either through simply influencing their Supreme Commander to just call him or through hacking, bribing and treachery.
Anyway, after a long time just communicating through comm channels, Lockdown suddenly appears on Earth, arranging for his "children" to meet him. He has good news: The Quintessons/Neutrals/remaining senate members/somebody else are ready to pay a hefty sum for either the two leaders of the factions or for every single bot of the factions.
Now, what will the twins and Starscream do, help their "father" catch their prey or come clean and help their friends?
2. G1: Wheeljack's sidebars actually light up in morse.
While chatting happily away with his friends, he's actually desperatedly trying to tell them something. He's controlled by Soundwave/Shockwave/Quintessons/somebody else and if the others don't do anything soon, they are all going to die.
b) Wheeljack is actually from the future and stranded in the present. A security program keeps him from speaking about his true origins to lessen the possibility of a time-space paradox occuring. But Wheeljack would really like to go home by now and nobody ever said anything about morsing.
c) Red Alert is in the same situation. He deliberatedly glitches to make sparks appear around his helmet, somehow shaping them into morse signs. But nobody is noticing anything.
3. G1: Megatron and Groundhog Day
One beautiful sunny day Megatron finally has had enough and offlines Starscream for good.
The next morning, he's surprised to find that he's reliving the same day as the day before. After some confusing, he relishes the opportunity to finally get rid of the Screamer. And again. And again. And again.
Finally tired of his games, he is ready to stop the cycle, only to find that's actually not that easy to keep Starscream alive this day. Something always happens to him, and the day restarts again.
Over time Megatron begins to concentrate less on his efforts to stop the cycle and more on the mechs surrounding him. Bored out of his mind and desperate for any distraction, he begins to spend more time with them and learns more about them then he ever wanted to know.
And, getting curious after a while, he even spends time with the Autobots.
Will tomorrow ever come? And will there still be war then?
4. G1: Per chance Megatron finds out that he really is the only thing keeping Starscream from reaching glory. Without Megatron there, Starscream would be a good leader, a successfull scientist, a well respected friend, ruler of Cybertron and hero of the universe.
Now what will Megs do?
5. G1: Desperate times call for desperate measures. And so, lacking necessary troops at the beginning of the war, the remaining senate forces Optimus Prime to recruit some of his soldiers out of the ranks of criminals imprisoned in the high security ward of the local prison. Most of these criminals don't survive their first fight, too weak, insane or tired of life to survive.
Just one mech is tenacious enough to pull through and to survive every battle until the Autobots finally reach Earth: Starscream, imprisoned for the murder of his colleague, mentor and best friend.
He deals with the hostility of his "comrades", the snears of his frame-kind and fellow military models on Decepticon side, and is just happy to have a full tank and at least a little bit of freedom again.
Then Skyfire is freed the murderer suddenly becomes the victim.
6. G1:
Skyfire and Starscream weren't lovers. They weren't even friends.
They were twins.
But other than with the known sets of twins, their original Spark split unevenly, Skyfire getting a giant part of it while Starscream's was much smaller. Still, it never bothered them, they were able to live happily and without any risks involved.
BUT, it kept other mechs from even thinking about the possbility of them being twins.
So, while every mech on Earth thought that Skyfire and Starscream had broken ties completely in the best and a continuing lover's tiff in the worst case, they actually just finished an argument that had started millons of years ago.
But now, after they are finally reunited again and have settled their argument, they are ready to do what Cybertronian twins do best: Causing chaos, mayhem and prank poor, unsuspecting bots.
Because face it, every set of G1 twins we've seen so far is trouble².
7.G1:
Starscream actually has a reason he's an annoying, traitorous glitch.
Aeons ago, in the middle of the war, he and the 'Waves made a bet in drunken stupor. Whoever would cause Megatron to snap first would win. Every mech chose his weapon of choice; being creepy, having annoying kids and telepathically snooping around for Soundwave, being creepy, utterly logical and too loyal for comfort for Shockwave and being an annyoing, traitorous whiner for Starscream.
So far, Starscream's winning.
8.G1 "I'm still here":
On his way through space Cosmos or Omega Surpeme stumble upon a damaged beacon on a barren asteroid.
Curious he manages to activate the beacon and receives an only half comprehensible message starting with the words: "I'm still here", detailing the journey of a young Cybertronian through the emptyness of space, his sadness over losing a friend and his fright about what he will face once he returns to Cybertron, if he ever manages to return.
The message is not signed, or if it is, it's too damaged to be readable, written only and, while clearly adressed at the long lost friend, said friend's name is never mentioned.
Anyway, the Autobot is intrigued by what he has found and calculates the way the mech could have taken on his journey back to Cybertron. And really, when (lets just say Cosmos) follows this path, he finds more beacons, bringing them back to Earth to share the memories of the nameless mech with his comrades.
His fellow Autobots are as fascinated with his discovery as he is - until one of them finally deduces that the mysterious mech leaving the beacons behind must have been Starscream after Skyfire went missing in the storm.
Shocked the Autobots decide to forget what happened as quickly as they can and to deny ever feeling sympathy or empathy for the author of the messages. The beacons are left to rust in a store-room.
Until one day, out of the blue, Teletraan receives a message on a mostly unused wavelength, beginning with "I'm still here."
For a little while the Autobots believe this new message to be a trick of Starscream, until they receive several more, each starting with the same line. Finally the figure out that those messages are as old as the war, sent by a young Starscream into space in hope that one day they would reach Skyfire, wherever he was.
Adressed an his friend, but clearly more a diary than anything else, he tells of the happenings on Cybertron to that time, his thoughts about it and what happened to him in particular. One by one the Autobots get hooked once more on listening to the messages of the past, getting to know a completely different Starscream, and his side of things. How he despaired about the loss of his friend, how he found new purpose in Megatron's army, how scared he was after his first battles, how he hated the bloodshed and what he was becoming, how he changed from an likeable young mech to the bitter monster of the present - and of the dark side of the Golden Age that they'd always known existed, buter never truly known.
9.G1:
The twins learn about the "Famous last words"-lists and start their own.
It's morbid, yet funny, until the first mechs begin to vanish shortly after uttering said "famous last words".
10.G1/SG(sort of):
The Cybertronians woke up on Earth and soon every human believed to know who the good guys and who the bad guys were.
They got it wrong.
The Cybertronians are a species of mimics, so it is only natural for the good guys to behave exactly like they witness the planet's native species on a daily basis. And let's face it, we're not the nicest species around.
And on the other hand, it's natural for the bad guys to behave exactly like our opposites, especially if it suits them.
And who called the Decepticons DECEPTicons in the first place?
Probably Autobots, and the Cons just followed the native species' lead and accepted the name.

You have such superior bunnies! It burns!
Man, someday I gotta try writing a story. I have the imagination and skill for it, I'm just not patience enough to even attempt. Hmm, maybe once my finals are over I'll attempt to write something. But first I really gotta get around to watching the whole series of Transformers...
Re: You have such superior bunnies! It burns!
It would be really interesting to see how the war actually started from an eye-witness' view-point. Sure, there were stories about the beginning of the war before, but usually most roles and characters are already firmly established by then and the Cons are well on their way to become monsters.
I'd like to see the actual way there and an explanation how it happened and how the mechs felt about their change.
I'm overthinking things again XD
Good luck for your finals and I hope you'll find the patience one day to write a story. ^^

It would make it extra heartbreaking to show him really getting to understand just how Starscream changed while he was offline.

And once one bot is hooked, the others will follow one by one.
Yeah, Starscream speaking to his "dead" best friend about the horrors he has to endure and his deepest fears.
Sort of drives it home just how important Skyfire was for Starscream.
I wonder what will happen when Skyfire and the other Autobots have to face the Cons again after all they've learned about Starscream and naturally about his comrades as well our of Starscream's messages.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)I think #5 sounds like something I could definitely make an attempt to pull off. I'll let you know if I do start it.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-27 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)As for #10, I think Megatron Origins explained how the Decepticons got their name. At least in the G1 verse.

I'd love to see the story.
You sure about the Cons' name being explained there? I can't remember if there was an expanation there.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-28 07:39 am (UTC)(link)But I will definitely be making a start at #5 once I have a couple more chapters of IdF:K out of the way, and have the rough draft of my other story completed. Have several ideas in my head for it.
Did you have a certain way you wanted it to end? We can chat about it in PMs later.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-02 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)Oh, and I found the name of the author of Hear My Scream. I credited that person as well for giving you part of the idea.

The Cons... I guess it would be better for the story if they wouldn't have found that particular frequency the messages pass by.
I thought that the first messages found were in form of beacons left by Starscream on his way back to Cybertron, while the other messages where simply just that, messages he sent out into space, in the vague direction of Earth, which are now, after millions of years, have finally reached their destination.
They can be picked up on some obscure frequency the Autobots only monitored before out of Prowl's and Red Alert's insistence to be thorough. Soundwave and the Cons have long disregarded that particular frequency as useless and full of interference or whatever and don't notice the messages passing by.
I mean, if the Cons would get the messages too, Screamer would be probably humilitated. Nothing new, but somehow I feel as if it would take a lit bit of the drama out of the story if Screamer and the Cons actually know why the Bots suddenly begin to look at them with new optics. Also, the documentation of Starscream's change wouldn't be as pure anymore of Screamer is shown as being ashamed who he once was or getting overly emotional before the final conlcusion/show down, if there is one.
But I guess, in the end anybody willing to adopt could make the Cons aware of the messages also, if it fits in the story. ^^

Who?
