Two old old bunnies
They're practically ancient and I had always hoped I would write them someday, but ... so far I have managed nothing. I might still pick them up, really. 2030 or so.
Also, beware, both bunnies are VERY detailed, but that's only because they have been in my mind for so long. If someone wants to take them up feel free to change all and everything. :)
1) Prowl's origin story aka Prince of Kaon
Prowl's first memory is of being in a room with many other sparklings and younglings who all come at random times and go at random times too. When they go, they don't come back. But it's random how long they stay. Only Prowl stays and stays and grows. They have guardians, who change and those finally give Prowl books as he grows. But there isn't much around and Prowl attaches emotionally to the guardians, until they show him their own reports and he helps them with whatever they let him help. Until he never is allowed to leave.
Prowl is very intelligent here. Still, this is all he knows, so he does not think too much about searching newspapers for murders, filling reports about drug deals etc. He's grateful to escape the boredom. He realises that he's a hostage.
When he's a youngling, he's taken out of the room to the boss who agrees to let Prowl work for him as long as Prowl is loyal. Prowl agrees - everything is better than that room - and over the year he becomes a very good mob boss, bodyguard to the big mob Boss. But every year the mob boss takes a photo and sends it away, to whoever is blackmailed with Prowl.
Prowl only knows that one of his creators is still alive through a very dormant bond.
Now the story can go many many ways, but the key situations were:
- Prowl leaves the city to expand the mob boss territory and sets up his own mafia ring. In the new city he meets twins - Ricochet and Jazz and falls in love and they with him. (Alternative: Ricochet and only Prowl fall in love, Jazz gives consent)
- The old mob boss is overthrown by a group called Decepticons. Prowl's group is next and he tries to flee, but his enemies know him well and hit the twins. Ricochet dies, Jazz survies the broken twin bond barely with the help of his bond to Prowl, but blames Prowl.
- Prowl flees and takes on a new identity. He's still young so with falsified papers and a very modified frame he attends the academy and manages to become a low level secretary and works himself up to the staff of Sentinel Prime.
- Sentinel is a strange mech. Some of his policies in the past were not sound at all, but no one dares to say anything, especially as he seems to change them gradually back in the last vorns.
- Sentinel Prime is assassinated by the Decepticons in front of Prowl and many others. As Sentinel dies Prowl notices the creator bond fading within him - and realises in that moment that Sentinel is his blackmailed creator and that he - Prowl - was indirectely the reason for the many bad policies, the Decepticons uprising in defiance of them and maybe even of the death of his creator now. A creator he can never meet again.
New city / Autobots:
Prowl serves now Optimus Prime and is very consicious about the good of the law. There he meets Jazz again who is still not very impressed by Prowl. The two decide to hide their bond, after all they had managed to ignore each other before. But fate etc. does conspire...
Not many know it, but I'm a huge Starscream fan. I love the pairing Starscream / Skyfire and I want to believe that they are/ were indeed bonded. So I once wondered - what if Starscream was carrying and a normal happy mech before all went down?
This is probably the saddest, most tragic bunny I ever had... Which is probably why I haven't written it. Thinking about it breaks my heart.
2) Starscream's origin story aka Spark of my Spark
Starscream managed to go back to Cybertron barely and wakes up in a hospital, where they welcome him back. Starscream is eager to get a rescue mission on, but first is welcomed back by his colleagues. There he notices that energon is now rationed, but does not think too much about it. After a bit of lobbying the Cybertron senate refuses Starscream to grant the rescue missions and the university refuses to take him back as a researcher.
Starscream, stubborn as he is, decides not to give up and wants to use every way to pressure them to change their mind. But his friends warn him that it's a bad time to be a flier and in Iacon - Starscream ignores them. He stays in Iacon.
Starscream's money reserves disappear fast, until he has to accept a badly paid job - which he's fired a bit later from. Mechs see in him a spy and are suspicious. He does notices though, that he drinks more energon thanks to the rations quite fast and is informed he's carrying. Starscream is happy, but a bit worried too... but even more determined to get Skyfire back. He stays in Iacon.
Meanwhile the politics reach a tipping point and all fliers are told that they deserve not to be treated better than the rest of the population and only get the same energon rations now. But Starscream needs as a Seeker has a lot higher energy requirement, especially with a sparkling.
He realises, that things are getting worse, and wants to leave, but does not have the money anymore to do so immediately. Especially because with a sparkling he can't fly over the deserts - the radiation would be too strong, he needs a shuttle and the shuttle prices have spiked with the tensions. He tries to get the money but he loses job after job and many friends are turning him away now - or have left the city already because they're fliers. Not that Starscream had many friends thanks to his personality / warframe / and long trips away from Cybrtron.
The situation deteriorates and Starscream is barely able to feed himself, much less a sparkling. Especially, when the city council decides that all fliers should leave the city - and even gives them the bare minimum of energon to do so, but it's not enough for Starscream. With that much and his sparkling inside, he would crash halfway.
Starscream grows desperate as he's starving. It's the love and worry for his sparkling in the end that drives him to prostitution. Still, even Iacon's economy slows and more and more mechs are starving.
In the end: The sparkling is born, but it's sick and small and a bit deformed, because it didn't get enough energon. Starscream loves it all the same. Starscream got a bit money through a very costing act and manages to leave Iacon. In Vos, he knows, he would get help, his sparkling would be save...
They reach Vos, but the desert radiation was too much for the weakened sparkling. It dies in his arms, despite all of Starscream's sacrifices.
In that moment, Starscream learns the true meaning of hate.
When he meets Skyfire all the eons later, he does not tell him all this, because the only mercy he can give the mech he loved is that he would never know.
