Dear god, I can see this happening for one reason: Challenging other drivers to drag race... during the test. And the best part? This can work in either a cracktastic humor fic or something dramatic! Think about it...
The Autobots have to go get licenses because Prime wants to obey the laws and customs of Earth, but the twins fail due to...well, being the twins. This means they travel legally on the open road with the rest of the Autobots, meaning they either have to /walk/ or be carried by another 'bot like Prime or Skyfire. (The jetpacks would be out, since they weren't made for long-range flights and they'd have to be licensed to pilot anyway... Which means the Aerialbots would need to get them... But that's another bunny.) Given how proud both Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are, they'd probably not like either option, likely leaving them sidelined. Which is something the Decepticons, especially a certain trine of Seekers, would use to their advantage...
Now, if only I wasn't such a lazy aft, I'd actually write this!
