Crashing =/= Funny

I have noticed a lot that people write Prowl's crashes as kind of a joke. Other bots will do things on purpose to induce a crash, everyone laughs when he crashes, they say "Oh no, he crashed again?!" endearingly, shake their heads and leave him be.
I honestly don't get why it's written that way, I imagine that having a crash for a robot is a lot like having a seizure for an organic. It's traumatic and probably painful, leaves you tired and has the risk for "data loss" (often times humans will lose anywhere from minutes to days after a seizure).
Thus, I've been wanting to see a fic about how crashing became a joke when the bots landed on Earth because humans think it is funny but then something happens (freezing in the middle of battle could be the extreme side, or one of the humans could realize how not funny it is by seeing him coming out of it or having it explained by someone). This really wouldn't have to be long, but I sure would enjoy seeing it.
Then, of course, keeping in mind that Prowl knows how to deal with these and isn't all Woe-Is-Me. He probably just doesn't like that humans think's its funny, nor do any other of the bots, you know?
