Megatron Origins which I referred to is a separate timeline/verse entirely I was suggesting that it had a better premiss for the creation of the Decepticon faction than Bayverse did.
The Bayverse comics did go into more detail that the movies as to the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the Fallen's stone. The Fallen's reason for pissing off his brethen sounds similar to a three year old's temper tantrum in which the child decides to go ahead anyway though his family told him not to. It doesn't really explain why Megatron even really bothered to listen to some old ghost in a rock when he was already basically top dog, and Cybertron wasn't that bad off.
I mean if you go off the theory that he some how became possessed than on would think with the banishment/death of the Fallen that he'd have snapped out of it. There is a somewhat interesting bunny in that. After RotF Megatron wakes up and has no understanding of the situation, and is back to being the sometimes cruel but honorable enough to be Lord High Protector mech he had been, and Optimus alludes to.
