Random thought on the last part: Once upon a time there was a young Seeker named Hornet. He was injured and transferred into a Skimmer frame and renamed himself to Bumblebee. Unlike Seekers, Skimmers are less well-known so they can get jobs in other cities easily, so while working in Iacon, Bumblebee ends up falling in with Optimus Prime's Autobots as the War starts. (Bee may not like the Golden Age government's treatment of his fellow Seekers, but at least Optimus truly believes in the principals of freedom and equality he espouses.)
ETA: Another thoguht: Bee befriended Cliffjumper because he saw a kinsmech - he either worked out Cliffy was a fellow Vosian, or at least suspects it. e's never actually asked so he isn't sure, he doesn't want to spook Cliffjumper, or doesn't want to find out he was wrong and Cliffy isn't a Vosian, so he' stayed quiet about it.
