Yes, life is not easy for him. I imagine that if Skyfire liked Megatron before, the change in him would be even more of an upset that would have made him join the Autobots. On the other hand, the idea that he's jealous...

Of course, Optimus is only addressing the question the Decepticon posed, so he didn't deny or confirm any secret affair.
First instinct suggested it's Megatron's sparkling... which would explain Optimus' exaggerated concern over keeping it hidden and his worry when it didn't return. He wasn't afraid for the sparkling's life; he was afraid Megatron had got his hands on it!
