Skywarp is his own grandfather

I was very close to using this idea in my current fic, but it would directly contradict other statements in the fic, which I want to keep. (and it could be an epic on its own.) The premise is thus: In the Animated 'verse, or one close to it, certain G1-like (not any actual, full G1 plot) elements are 'history' from the time of a past 'great war'. Usually in Animated verse this is restricted to some sight gags placed as form of fan service. For purposes of this fic, Whoever Animated Starscream creators were, lived during this 'historical' time. One of them was 'Skywarp' a pro-Decepticon Cybertronian considered an idiot thug by most (like G1 Skywarp). In the 'present' time of Transformers Animated series, this creator named Skywarp is presumed dead, but actually no one really knows what happened to him. The adult Starscream creates his clones, (in the present time of the Animated series) one of them, the coward clone, is called Skywarp. Over time (the brief time of season 3), this cowardly clone, who demonstrated the ability to access and use some kind of internal transwarp field generator and transwarp navigation system, goes through experiences that teach him to be a little less cowardly, and a little more tough and defensive of what he considered the true Decepticon cause. Then, at some point in 'the future' (must be after or at the very end of the regular Animated series) this former coward has an accident with his transwarp system, which sends him into the distant past.
So, the future/present coward Skywarp is now stuck in the past on Cybertron, before the Great War, before the Decepticon faction is formed. Some plot device like lack of power or damage or lacking stellar cartography prevents him from just going back to the future. Skywarp gets involved with whoever Starscream's other creators may be. (I was going to use the names Thundercracker and Slipstream, although they are clearly not the same individuals as the later clones with the same names, but they actually could be any G1-like characters. Two is more plausible than one for reasons explained below.) Eventually this Skywarp, starts to recognize history, like events leading to war, Megatron existing, Starscream turning out to be his offspring.
Skywarp realizes that he has to maintain the timeline, or things will not happen as he knew them, and Starscream will never exist. He acts a lot stupider than he really is, to hide his understanding of temporal and transwarp physics. He realizes that in some cases, he has to allow tragedies to happen in order to maintain the timeline. (I was going to use events including 'Slipstream' gets arrested and executed by Straxus, 'Thundercracker' rips out his own spark in grief, and someone sabotages (the elder) Jetfire's exploration plan so he won't be around to protest war. But, they can be any events). He raises Youngling Starscream and gets him involved with some shadowy underworld organization in Vos, playing a street thug himself, knowing this will eventually lead to Starscream having the right connections, and being a spectator at events where Megatron will appear.
After Starscream is accepted as a Decepticon, Skywarp goes into hiding, keeping track of Starscream in secret.
During the 'present' time (during or just after the Animated Series) this older Skywarp (who probably acts very differently and has a very different alt-mode) approaches his younger clone self and explains the whole "You are your own grandfather paradox" plot. (In this case it's more Skywarp is the clone of his own 'son', but you get the idea.) He explains that because Skywarp is a clone of his own offspring, his CNA is somehow corrupted and he is not compatible with any of the Seekers of his time, so for example, if he was starting to feel something for the Thundercracker of his time, he should break it off now, because they could never breed successfully.
You can decide if Starscream is/was capable of breeding other than cloning. He's in some ways, his own father, but because he also had two other creators, he could have enough diversity or whatever. (I'm not a geneticist.) But Skywarp, because he's got that extra degradation of being a clone, plus contributed his codes to the one he was cloned from, can breed, but definitely not with Starscream or any of the Starscream clones of that time.
Then the 'accident' happens (or was it an accident?) and the younger Skywarp goes back into the past, while old Skywarp is now known to be alive in the future/present. Maybe the older Skywarp, sparkbroken after loosing all his loves and doing so many terrible deeds to protect the timeline, goes out in some heroic way, like ripping out his spark and giving his energy or parts to Starscream just after he's had the shard ripped out of his head, so that Starscream can live again and vengeance will be his!
And maybe, if this happens, the resurrected Starscream is still 'Starscream', but he has some partial memories or abilities from Skywarp as well, so he understands about the timeline, and knows where the elder Jetfire ended up and other such secrets. (This part reminds me of the end of the game Tales of the Abyss, now I think of it.) And of course whoever you imagined Starscream's love interest to be (Megatron, Slipstream, Jetfire, Blackarachnia, Optimus, Red Alert...whoever) can now be with him, because he's not dead.
