This has a lot of similarity to
ishimura's second one here, and quite frankly is partly inspired by it.
Ultra Magnus (along with Elita-1) has been betrothed to Optimus Prime since the start of the Great War, so when he is pushed into relocating to Earth he is very pleased because it means he can be with his once presumed dead beloved.
Once on Earth and settled in, he discovers, to his dismay, that Optimus is on the verge of a complete mental breakdown due to the stresses of leadership and no way to escape them. He decides then and there to take total control of Optimus' private life, to give him the reprieve he desperately needs.
But when members of the Ark crew (who idolise Optimus even more than most Autobots) discover just how Magnus treats Optimus in private, they jump to conclusions and think that Magnus is abusing Optimus, throwing Magnus in the brig and removing Optimus from leadership on medical grounds, believing that all of his protests are due to Stockholm Syndrome.
Only one person is willing to listen to Magnus and believes him that what he was doing was for Optimus's mental health. This one friend does the thing that, hopefully, will be the biggest aid to Optimus and Magnus - they call in Elita-1.

I can see this happening...
Only one person is willing to listen to Magnus and believes him that what he was doing was for Optimus's mental health. This one friend does the thing that, hopefully, will be the biggest aid to Optimus and Magnus - they call in Elita-1.
Do you have anyone in mind for that 'one friend'?
Overall this sounds really, really interesting. I'd love to read a full fic - I don't have a good grasp of Magnus' or Elita's characters and it sounds like this would go pretty in-depth to both of them.

Well I'd idly tagged the friend as being Perceptor, but it could be anyone.

Date: 2008-08-04 04:10 pm (UTC)He's "obviously" served w/ Magnus, would have known Prime, and likely known of Elita, if not had some dealings w/ her before the femmes went to ground.

Date: 2008-08-03 07:04 am (UTC)This one here is an interesting bunny because usually, the Autobots' loyality to Optimus is portrayed to be beneficial to both sides.
