1. The Antikythera mechanism is an ancient device that is basically a two thousand year old computer that functions as an astrological calculator. Keeping track of the sun, moon, and possibly other planets when a date is entered. Recent studies have even shown that it could even predict solar eclipses. It has over thirty gears, follows the Egyptian 365-day calender, and takes into account the extra day every four years roughly a century before the Julian calender and leap years were introduced. All of this is extremely impressive when you realize it was built around 150-100 BC.
Someone was awake and in southern Europe while everyone else was in stasis.
2. Optimus Prime is quoted for saying "Freedom is the right of all sentient life." Thing is, he didn't say sapient.
3. There was one of these colorful excavators in the next town over from where I am. It's paint job is all the more vibrant first hand. And I couldn't help but wonder what kind of, or which, transformer it would be.
4. One of the main reasons the Decepticons haven't won the war is that as beings from a planet with limited non-renewable resources, it's nearly impossible to comprehend resources that ARE renewable. Hence Megatron frequently vowing to drain the Earth dry, he doesn't quite get that he doesn't have to do so to have a one up on energon supplies.
But now, the Autobots are in trouble. The Decepticons have finally gotten it, and are now using the knowledge to obtain energy without depending on easy to detect and preventable raids.
5. When the Decepticons raided the Inca temple for the Crystal of Power, and of which was later destroyed by an Autobot to stop them, it pissed off some dormant deities. Unfortunately, thanks to active destruction of the Incan religions, they don't know just how powerful the gods and goddesses who are causing trouble for Autobot and Decepticon alike, really are.
6. A group of Autobots and Decepticons are turned into nudibranchs. Whether they stay the same size or are now the actual size of nudibranchs is up to you. Because the image of a nudibranch Prime going "Ha! Can't catch me!" to a nudibranch Megatron while both are creeping along without weapons just won't leave me alone.
7. Mirage gets turned into a turbofox.
8. They could sense sparks.
9. One of the Decepticons is the Cybertronian equivalent of our Shakespeare.
10. Cybertronian parasites. Turns out, some of them are even nastier than the ones found on Earth.

Long comment is long
Date: 2008-12-02 09:23 am (UTC)2. This could be a problem.
3. *insert cheesy horror theme music* Sons of the Constructicons!
4. Intriguing...
5.*looks up* I foresee much rage (and chagrined Cybertronian heavenly figures) in the future.
6. *breaks down in lulz*
7. I suppose this means we must change Hound into a half-bloodhound dog and re-enact the Disney film (for a sadder fic, you could re-enact the original novel, but it probably wouldn’t be pretty.)
8. I sense some very interesting potential from this one.
9. Bonus points if it’s the most unlikely one!
10. Ooh. Creepy. I am suddenly reminded of various episodes of The X-Files... *slight shiver*

Primus: "Yes, ma'am. No ma'am, I'll make sure that they're properly punished and that they will never do it again."
6. Sad thing is, is that this bunny seems to be the kind that won't be distracted by other victims.
7. *puts book on to-read list* Bambi is another that Disney altered a lot as well, and that most people don't realize that there was a book first.
10. This is one aspect where it's difficult for fiction to be more disturbing than fact. There are some really creepy parasites out in the world that I wouldn't wish on even my worst enemy.

... Perceptor.

I first thought Soundwave, but he's stuck as a priest in my mind. I then thought Thundercracker, which is not bad but I saw
Also, maybe it's one of the Combaticons - they were imprisioned before Starscream released them, weren't they? Maybe one of them is this highly honoured writer who vanished because the other side of his life was as a violent criminal and he was caught.

Date: 2008-12-02 06:09 pm (UTC)2. I have a feeling that the Senate/Decepticons/whoever would use that to their advantage against the Autobots and certain alien species.
9. Shockwave. Don't know why, it just feels right. Though I also like the thought of one of the Combaticons being the writer. Onslaught or Blast Off? Probably Blast Off because of all the time he spends alone in space. Everyone's gotta have some sort of hobby.
10. *is having horrible mental images* May have to play around with this one anyway and see what comes of it.

Date: 2008-12-03 05:22 am (UTC)9. I'm really, really liking the idea of a Combaticon as a cybertronian Shakespeare. And Blast Off is a sweet choice. Now I have to be careful that this bunny doesn't come back and bite me.
10. Yes! My first possibly-adopted bunny.

Date: 2008-12-03 05:39 am (UTC)Though now I'm imagining Prime truly meaning all sensate life, and joining the ALF.
And then the ALF releases one of their crazy videos, and all the humans have ski masks on, and there's this HUGE ASS robot in the back ground with a beach blanket over his head. 'Cause that's totes keeping his identity a secret, LOL.
