My mind just thought about what would happen if certain elements of the anime Escaflowne was put into terms of the Transformers universe. Namely the entire thoughts into energy, and the machine that can change destiny. Especially the Fate Altering Machine as I could see Megatron from a point when the Decepticon faction actually did have valid causes thinking about using such for the good of all Cybertron.

Though considering how some of fandom see model types like humans see ethnic backgrounds, there could be thoughts of one model type being the only ones who could create such a machine or hinder it, and thus hunted down or destroyed depending on the route one went.


For those who don't know this anime, the Fate Altering Machine is just as the name implies. It was basically this conglomeration of science, magic, and steampunk elements that could allow one to see how the future will play out and then change it to suit what the user of the machine wants to happen instead. Thus changing the future of everyone forcefully and against their will. Even making people fall in love with one another like one would play with dolls.


I-I hope that wasn't too confusing, because I don't exactly want to spoil the anime entirely by telling the plot in case anyone is going to watch it at some point.

It strikes me as something at least one Megatron would toy with, even if just in idle contemplation. Since we do have Megatrons that basically started the war as a strike against corrupted officials, and then declined into a war that lost the base meaning.


I'm rewatching it in my medicated state thus this idea. I forgot how much taking control of your future and such played out in it. Then again when I first saw it as a teenager it was mostly with the shipping goggles on.

Right now the only Megatron I can think right off the bat would probably be (around) Origin's/IDW Megatron. It's an interesting thing to think about though.

I first watched the movie...forever ago. Though about idk two years ago? Finally watched the series. I liked the movie better (that Escaflowne was better lol), but the series was still good.

Yeah, and if not Megatron there are others who would think that toying with people's fate would be in their best interest despite it taking away free will. Or even people who would use that as an excuse while just using it for their own selfish gains. It has a lot of potential even if not the Fate Alteration Engine specifically. Just any sort of event that would change things in such a significant way that it could be seen as an abuse of ones ability to choose how their life shall be lead.

The series also didn't age as well as some series, it has a lot of bad cliches and attempts to be really serious and just not coming off as such. But it has it's redeeming qualities that make me still love it, and it definitely all depends on if you saw the movie or the movie first in your rating them against one another.

'toying with peopls minds' made my think of past stories I've read. Alpha Trio or . Don't ask why, I have no idea lol.

All you said about the series I how I feel. The thing about the movie that makes me like it more is the art work put into it and that it doesn't take forever to get a point across. They're both 'watches' regardless.
