While some mechs might be comfortable dating, there have to be one or two that aren't, right? Some that want a mate, but not all the stuff they have to go through to find one?
I can completely see Prowl looking around his life and thinking 'I've got a comfortable apartment/house, my job is stable, there's plenty of money... I've always thought about having someone around...' But he's also the sort of character that I can see not wanting to date. Too random for him. Spend months/equivalent dating someone, only to find out that they want something different than he does? Or Prowl being off-putting, because he comes with a list of requirements to the first date?
But... while I really like Jazz for this, I'm not sure where he'd come in at this point. Jazz could be disheartened by all of the dating he's done, ready to look for something permanent?
I also had the idea of an orphan train with Ironhide and Ratchet adopting Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. The idea below has collided and morphed with the mail order mate story.
The war on Cybertron has been brief, but it has resulted in many orphaned sparklings. These sparklings are now being paraded around Cybertron in an effort to find them homes.
Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are twins and not being separated from each other. Ratchet and Ironhide take them in.
Jazz takes one look at Bluestreak and brings him home to Prowl. Survivors of Praxus have to stick together.
Starscream is barely an adult and has journeyed out into the far reaches of Cybertron with his two younger brothers on the same transport as Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Bluestreak. However, Starscream is not going to be adopted. He's a mail order mate with the only condition being that Optimus has to take care of his two brothers as well.
Of course, these are just ideas. Pick and choose what you like from them.
