I really don't know what brought me to write this monster down. It just was there once, and tried to eat me before I had written it down. Sorry for bad writing and maybe chliché ideas.

Ratchet is neglecting himself again for his patients' sake, but this time it's even worse: He actually needs himself repairs, otherwise he will go in stasis-lock. Prime is very worried for his old friend, but all his friendly approaches to get Ratchet being reasonable are only responded by snarky and acid comments, and Prime is slowly getting irritated to a dangerous level. After a particularly bad fight where Ratchet even tries to him, he has enough and shows the medic even his patience can wear out - and how irate he can be.
He catches both Ratchet's hands and asks a now quiet, trembling medic if he really was so blind not to threaten only himself, but also his patients by refusing to let himself be repaired: Because due to his own bad condition, he would heighten the chance of making a mistake when repairing them. Prime orders him then to let himself be repaired by Swoop and First Aid and to take care of himself again, or he would land in the brig.
But what really hits Ratchet is when Prime asks him if Ratchet only violated his friends' feelings when trying to help, so he wouldn't feel so much his misery brought by his own fault. Prime walks then out and leaves a frozen medic behind.
The next days, Prime leaves whenever Ratchet walks into a room; he doesn't acknowledge him when meeting in the hallway, or gives him an angry look. This increases Ratchet's stress due to his guilty feelings, because he fears he has lost Prime's friendship, but also because he remembers Prime looked as if he wanted to kill him. Besides, he still hasn't recovered from his self-destructing behaviour.
Before he is going to break down, he decides to finally apologize to Optimus and clear things up, even if he doesn't regain his friend's trust - or is beaten up by him.

A: It doesn't go well first, but Ratchet's last apologizing words stun Optimus before the medic all but flees the room, sure he has lost forever his friend. He then finally collapses in the hallway, unable to take any more of the stress. When he wakes up again, he is in Prime's private quarters and the both of them clear things out.

B: The stress as well as the memory of seeing Prime so furious against him have made Ratchet paranoid and instable. During the argument's course, he's getting more and more frightened because Optimus is getting more and more angry. As his leader stands angrily up, the fear makes Ratchet's CPU short out and he begs Prime not to kill him.
This confuses Prime first, but as he sees how the medic is acting, he realizes what he has done. When he approaches him to calm him down, however, Ratchet misinterprets this as the other mech wanting to hurt him and he mindlessly runs out into the hallways. He's nearly senseless and going into stasis-lock the time he is hiding in a storage room, before somebody gently hugs him and he finally calms down.
Waking up, he finds himself in Prime's quarters who apologizes for putting him under such pressure.

Like I said - a monster. DX

I like the second option - it's very dramatic, and I can imagine just how worried and horrified Optimus would be when he realises how badly intimidated and threatened Ratchet felt when faced with his full temper.

I didn't! I thought maybe some recent stuff that's been happening prompted a mod to set it screened (some of the stuff that LJ Admin has done lately is utter crap).

Now that I look at it, I didn't get any screening notices, so maybe you need to check your settings?

All I can think of is that you may have accidentally flipped the "Comment Screening:" setting for this post. Check the edit page, it's the middle of the menu selectors just above the "Preview" and "Spellsheck" buttons. If it's not that, then I don't know what it is - that's all I can think of.

While Optimus has always been given official stats that place him slightly lower than Megatron (Optimus has two 8s - I can't recall what on - while Megatron had a clean sweep of 10s), but he's still a very strong mech. G1 is less clear on hieghts than movieverse, but even then I think they did try to make Optimus at least a head taller than most, so yes, he could potentially be intimidating that way.

The thought comes to me that one reason Prime doesn't get angry much is because he tries to control himself. He knows he has a very powerful temper, so he does his best to never show it in public - he prefers to inspire and befriend than intimidate and scare.
