Despite having disapeared off the face of the internet, all I have to bring you is this. Sadly, without all that free-time I had whilst working I haven't had near the same flow of inspiration. I've also been rather busy. I do apologize, but that's just how it's been.
1. Shortly after Bluestreak joins the Autobots he finds himself on the wrong end of a series of nasty teasing and pranks. Blue, still recovering from wounds both physical and mental, bottles himself up, unable to deal with it himself, but unwilling to go to someone for help. Jazz notices, and petitions Prime to be allowed to set the troublemakers straight. Prime denies it, saying that it's already being taken care of, but not by him.
During their next recharge cycle, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are taken on a trip through Bluestreak's nightmares.
2. Hound discovers the wonders of bubble wrap.
2a. He shows it to Mirage, who refuses to give in to baser pleasure.
3. Sideswipe bets Sunstreaker that the yellow frontliner can't go a week without losing his temper. In typical brotherly fashion, Sunstreaker sets out to prove him wrong. Cue the one of the most aggravating, screwed up weeks of the Darling Daffodils life (and some very confused bots left along the way).
4. GrimlockxBlurr (meeting of the misunderstood?)
5. SkyfirexSideswipe (I really really really incredibly want to see this because my brain insists it could work)
6. So after reading Jazzerella, my mind decided…
6a. Little Red Riding Cliffjumper.
6b. (Wheel)Jack and the beanstalk
6c. Sleeping Prowl (Sleeping Beauty)
6d. Sunstreaker and the bolt (Princess and the Pea)
7. "Nails on Chalkboard" is a very comforting sound to robots. Much like rocking movements and lullaby's to people.
8. It happens often in sparkling-fic where children and sparklings have positive, and gleeful reactions to Wheeljack's vocal indicators.
This is an entirely human reaction.
By contrast, what if sparklings didn't like Wheeljack at all due to the feature, and is astounded when the first time he meets a small human child they do like him?
9. There is a very short list of bots on the Ark who, as an absolute and unbendable rule, are never to be the subjects of pranks, mischievousness, projects of moral, ethical or sensible dubiousness, malicious double-talk, malicious anything, tricks, contracts, black mail, or shenanigans.
9a. Prowl is not one of these bots. He was, but lost those rights at one point.
(inner fangirl says relationships are taboo with this short list of bots- but I'm biased because I've been soaking in the PxJ comm. again)
9b. These bots all have one thing in common.
9c. It's a cult.
(participants so far include Shockwave, Perceptor, and Beachcomber. Feel free to add at will)
10. Ctrl+Alt+Dlt = Cybertronian Dead Baby Comedy?

Date: 2010-09-02 12:26 am (UTC)I've had an idea for a story that's been brewing for a while involving Wheeljack acting as a babysitter for a couple of bot.

Date: 2010-09-02 07:55 am (UTC)Wheeljack, I think, would make a pretty awesome babysitter. He's got this funny sort of charm to him that a lot of kids would probably love.
... I would have loved to have Jack as babysitter as a child.

Date: 2010-09-02 11:35 pm (UTC)Bluestreak is both frustrating and incredibly fun to write, depending on what I'm writing about of course. Once I'm into the swing of things the words really just flow which works fairly well for the resident chatterbox. I love writing him then because I don't have to worry half as much about what I'm saying and why because most people skip poor Blue's dialogue anwyays because it tends to get so long and unweildy. Which is unfortunate really because sometimes a really good writer can make those dialogue boxes quite interesting, and in one case I found, plot relevant. I wish I could do that, but I'm sadly not to that level yet.
The twins on the other hand I've always had trouble with. I've never really tried to write them into a story before but I can see it ending badly. We don't get along very well, you see, and I've always had trouble with jerk characters so I'm rather afraid to try. I suppose I should give it a shot at some point, but I'll definitely wait for the inspiration to strike.
But back to Blue- the trick with writing Bluestreak is to keep from repeating yourself. It seems like an easy solution to fill up the obligatory word count, but few things make dialogue more irritating than constant repetition. Try to avoid lots of sentences starting with "I mean" and "But realy" or any variant thereof. This is something of a way to try an run a sentance without actually running it, but can be equally as annoying. Rambling works well, and if you know how, you can even stay on topic for the most part. Also try to avoid run-on sentences unless poor Blue is stressed or worried. I've also seen the trick used that Blue talks more than average, but it doesn't get really out of hand unless he is, again, stressed and/or worried. It's all up to one's personal preference, and don't worry too much about it. Nobody's perfect. :)

One should never torment a youngling within range of an intensely maternal, empathic and sneaky communications officer...
2. Hound discovers the wonders of bubble wrap.
2a. He shows it to Mirage, who refuses to give in to baser pleasure.
Eventually, Hound gets tired of trying to ‘convince’ Mirage to lighten up and stages a hostile takeover - by wrapping his/their berth completely in the stuff. :P
4. GrimlockxBlurr (meeting of the misunderstood?)
Even funnier if they understand each other perfectly, and have long rambling conversations in gobbledygook which no one else can make a word out of.
6. So after reading Jazzerella, my mind decided…
6a. Little Red Riding Cliffjumper.
6b. (Wheel)Jack and the beanstalk
6c. Sleeping Prowl (Sleeping Beauty)
6d. Sunstreaker and the bolt (Princess and the Pea)
Umm...Little Seaspray? (Beachcomber should be the Prince. :P)
Perceptorlina. (Because he's a microscope, and ironically already been shrunk in G1...)
A variation on The Six Swans (Seekers?). This one would probably have to be Decepticon based to get enough (Seekers? Cassettes?). The king is of course Megatron. And the silent sister? Soundwave. Perhaps his cassettes get turned into seekers, or vice versa...
Puss in Boots. Because I have this insane scene running through my head of the Twins grabbing Steeljaw and playing 'dress up' with him. Oddly enough the cat seems to be enoying it. Perv.
7. "Nails on Chalkboard" is a very comforting sound to robots. Much like rocking movements and lullaby's to people.
The Autobots also find it a convenient way of telling the humans ‘go home already’, without using so many words... :P

Hmm...they all graduated from the same Academy? One rumored to be a completely insane hotbed of hazing, pranking, and shenanigans, so that nothing the Twins can do is ‘new’ to them? And Prowl lost his membership to the club when he failed to prank better than he got. XD

(I do like that you added empathy in there: it's one of those things I've always felt was massively under-valued)
2. Umm...Little Seaspray? (Beachcomber should be the Prince. :P)
You'll have to be more specific as to which 'little' you speak. I know several tales starting with Little just off the top of my head- leaning towards Little Mermaid by your description, but I'm not sure.
That was actually something of a conundrum when I was writing the list too- some of those names are so ambiguous without certain identifiers, especially since character names seem to gobble them up!

Aw, I wish I had thought of that one! That is awesome.

Soundwave and the cassette's sounds like a good idea, and though I don't recall the king having all that much of a part (it's been a few years, however), who would play the wicked stepmother? *conundrum conundrum*

ROFL's
I approve of this idea. Wholeheartedly. *nod nod*

I bet you they ran the academy behind the scenes!

You got it, I meant The Little Mermaid. And yeah, folktales can be depressingly simple in their titles, probably what you get for being translated from other languages and collected by folks who probably had no imagination of their own. :/
I can’t decide, though, which version would be more interesting - Anderson or Disney...truth be told I always found both a little depressing.
Huh. Maybe Seaspray would be better suited to a selkie-based story?

My memory was that the king didn't have much of a role other than being the love interest and general blind idiot to his mother framing his wife for infanticide, but I guess it depends on which variant you read. But given Soundwave's loyalty to him in the series I thought Megs was best for the role.
If it’s the cassettes who are the 'brothers', I vote Starscream as the stepmom - he's already a conniving backstabbing harpy, that's the kind of personality which would curse kids on impulse just to be rid of the parental obligations. And Shockwave as the king's mother who tries to frame Soundwave, since that bit of plotting was a much colder, prolonged sort of thing...

Date: 2010-09-08 07:43 pm (UTC)Really? Anderson's was certainly on the sad side, but I'm surprised you found the Disney version that way too... Then again, one of my favorite tales as a child was The Little Match Girl. Made me cry every time. I'm biased.

I definitely agree with you there. Actually, I think I like the inversion from Megatron always being the big bad and taking a back seat for once.

Agreed again! I've always been terrible with Decepticons- as is apparent here that I didn't even think of those two. They're quite good matches for the parts actually. I like it.
